My K-5 arrived today

This is the first Pentax DSLR that had a 0 Shutter Count. My K100d, K20D & K-7 all had over 200 shots New.
Also this camera is just a whole new world compared to those.
The K-R arrives tomorrow. will see what that one is at.

You only bought the K-5 and the K-R? No 645D to complete the family?

Enjoy!

FWIW, my K-5 had a zero shutter count too... also unlike my K10D, K-7 and K-x. Wonder if they reset it to zero now after doing their test shots or if they are just skipping the test shots

Mine was at 0 as well.

If you have a PC, you can download PhotoMe for free. Otherwise,

Check shutter count online - My Shutter Count.com

Yeah, when one of my friends got K-x kit, 18-55 kit lens didn't come with a hood, we call this kind of situations "trying to squeeze a fly's oil" here, it simply sucks.

Hm, if Pentax reset them all to zero when leaving the factory I'd say that's surely rather a good thing. It means you can know for certain when you get a cam with 275 exposures on it they were made by the camera shop (and maybe it being a returned item) rather than them having the excuse "it was Pentax testing"...?

Got mine today, too. Went bird shooting in the living room shortly after. Here is an ISO 12800 shot under tungsten light with AWB taken with my DA* 300 at f/4, 1/640s. Blew me away with a little PP.

My guess is that Pentax has made a change at the factory wherby those tests that ran the shutter count to about 200 are no longer recorded to prevent all these "help my new camera has 200 actuations" threads and returns. Good idea.
