Why is the URI that you posted (above) corrupted with 8 asterisks obliterating the essential target domain-name segment and rendering it unusable?

That doesn't seem to happen usually with links that people post here.

That someone is working an optimistic strategy in getting the block of PF links removed from DPR. For now, we just have to wait it out and see what happens.

Thanks for posting that Kunzite.

Gawd I hate inter-domain-level shitfights. There are never any winners...

I do prefer buying from either Digital cameras, all other cameras and everything photographic from Adorama Camera or B&H Photo Video Digital Cameras, Photography, Camcorders though. They are both so customer-friendly and efficient to deal with compared to being drowned in certain shark-infested large rivers...

I find it VERY ironic and even somewhat funny, that at the top of that explanation appears an Ads By Google link to---- You guessed it.

DPReview has a bottom line to carry and it depends heavily on traffic. And so, as a result, any site diverting traffic away from this(bottom line) gets consequently blocked.

Luckily(or so I thought), Pentax Forums do not work this way(none profit).
However... dealing with DPReview in this way, seems to undermine that entire mindset and seems likely more of an embarrassing than a diplomatic motion imo.

TBH. I worry when sites begin using tactics such as these.

Anyways, in DPReviews on words:

QuoteQuote:
We're under no obligation to provide any more detailed explanation of our decision.
In this case the correct coverall word would probably be 'abuse'.

As you admit, you've no idea what went on. You're Basing your argument on assumptions that are incorrect.
We only consider it spamming our forum when it is done by or with the encouragement of the site owner.

Q. Contact them and resolve this, because the people you're annoying aren't spammers, they're legitimate users of both sites.
A. Not going to happen, sorry.

Signed,
Simon Joinson, Editor
DPRreview
So there you have it.
Might as well lift the URL block and get on with life.
As DPReview will not budge on the issue, just as they have not budged for any other site blocking since the dawn or blocking history

I agree, and it doesn't even bock people from linking from a site to another: on DPR people add spaces in the URLs like www.pentax forums.com

So pentaxforum decided to sink to dpr level. If they want to sink in respect, mission accomplished.

Uh? What are you raving about? I don't see any of that rubbish.

I suggest you take up your problem with the advertiser, or better still, ask some 10yr old kid to install & configure a web browser properly for you. No rocket science involved. Really.

I guess that settles it then. We can either:

A: Leave the block in place, force the users to deal with it, and be bothered by it everytime a DPR link is posted.

B: Admit that we did not succeed in getting the block of PF removed from DPR and move on with PF by removing the block to DPR to make things a bit easier here for the users.

Any other suggestions?

Ok then, so DPReview publishes favorable review of Canon 60D and... Wait a moment, the review of K-5 is not up in the air yet, isn't it? But the world is turning upside down, the stars are falling and Pentax is starting to feel strangely cold in the hands of everyone who holds it... Come, you can't be serious.

Face it, ladies and gentleman, Pentax has a long way to go both in technology and marketing departments to become a real contender to Nikon and Canon. It is sad truth of life that the photographic gear market is ruled by these two companies and everybody else is trying to bite off as big chunk of the cake as possible. So, Pentax does the best they can, and frankly, they are doing a great job. But as Shrek said to the Donkey, when the latter asked him on the gazillionth time - "Are we there yet?" - "No" shouted Shrek rather harshly.

The more you dwell in cross brand comparison the less neurons will survive the next day, wait, make it the next hour. So, perhaps it is time this was thought through, understood and life was made far easier.

Just my cents.
