5D MkII+Zeiss territory

I'm not kidding. I'm very impressed. My K-5 came today and I took it for a quick spin
this afternoon. A little background - I've been shooting with Canon and Zeiss glass
system (best Canon glass before that) for a long time, bought into Pentax
because I was impressed with the small size, solid feel and the quality of prime Limiteds.
But the image from my K-7 wasn't exactly what 5D II was giving me. It kind of
limited my Pentax use. I shoot mostly landscape/travel, low ISO, love color,
vibrance, strong saturation. Please visit my website to get an idea:
light and pictures - travel and landscape photography
So I decided to buy K-5 and I have to tell you guys, this is 5D II + best Zeiss glass
territory. I tried my DA Limited lenses today and the clarity of the image is quite
exceptional. Obviously those are my first impressions, nothing amazing going on
today so no great sunset, just another boring clear day.
But I know how my files look like and as soon as I opened my first K-5 files,
I knew I'm getting something good here
Hard to prove anything with the lowrez examples, but you're gonna demand
to see something anyway, so here it is
DA 70, 35 Macro, 15 and 21 Limited

Andrew

DAAAAAMNED that's some nice tone and micro-contrast!
And iF I didn't know better, I'd guess it was taken with FF!

The amount of micro detail in the cliff-face in the 2nd photo is amazing as well.
Thanks for posting

My local Pentax distributor just informed me my order delivery will be delayed.

Something about a world-wide shortage of the K-5...... Grrr!!

Wow, very nice colors. After seeing the first two shots, my DA70 and DA35 are demanding that I replace my K10D ASAP

my surprise is how good my 15 and 21 are... Didn't expect such a detail.
15 has more CA, but easily removable, 21 is really good.

Crops from the last two shots, 15 first, 21 follows:

Beautiful shots.

I guess it's time to test some Zeiss glass (100mm) on the new K5.

Will post when I get time to test.

My only reservation about the K5 was if it retained that rich Pentax color (I shoot the same stuff as you) at low ISO. After seeing your shots, I no longer have any reservations.
I've been shooting for almost four decades, and I find the DA 15 Limited the finest lens I've used, which includes some Zeiss glass.
I didn't switch from Nikon to Pentax because I thought it was the best on the market, but that it was by far the best deal on the market, but since getting the 15mm and seeing what the K5 does, I now think it is the best on the market as well.
I can't afford the K5 yet, but I have a loner on the way. Really looking foreward to it.

Its even worse if you need to add the Limiteds to your shopping list on top of the K-5

I've got 3 Pancake Limiteds, and have to struggle not to add any more
