k-5 LCD colour reproduction?

Hi K-5 owners!

Has anyone tried to test the colour reproduction of the camera's LCD screen? How do the colours compare to a calibrated monitor?

Here is a test procedure I was thinking of using on my camera when I buy it, to calibrate the colours. I would love comments on whether i'm barking up the right tree, and if so whether i've missed anything. Also, whether there is an easier way to calibrate the LCD.

1. calibrate your computer monitor with a spyder or equivalent.

2. display a blank white screen on your computer.

3. create a custom white balance in the K-5 from an exposure of your monitor

4. display a full-screen colour chart on the computer

5. take a photo of the screen using the custom white balance you just created

6. reduce the size of the colour chart on the computer monitor to match the size of the K-5 LCD and drag it to the edge of the computer screen

7. review the photo of the colour chart on the k-5

8. place the k-5 beside the computer screen, compare, and adjust the colours of the LCD in the camera settings as necessary

Optionally, you could also do the following:

9. upload the photo of the colour chart onto the computer

10. repeat steps 6-8 with the photo of the colour chart

Would this work to get a bit of an idea of the colour accuracy? I know it's not scientific.

Maybe it would be better to do it with the screen displaying a single primary colour, instead of a colour chart? Then repeat for each primary colour?

Would I need to darken the room before doing all this?

What about following the procedure on p-298 of the K-5 Manual - 'Adjusting the Color of the Monitor', or is this effectively what you are doing at step 8?

Another thing to be sure of of course is to make sure you are using the same colour space (eg sRGB) on every device - camera, monitor etc.

I look at the screen and if it looks wrong I adjust it.
