Any of the programs that use the latest release of dcraw as its base for demosaicing will support the K-5 and K-r:

@jbinpg: ...You are not far...but ...dcraw is just "converting tool" and not "editing picture tool"

@Eagle_Friends, patriotap: Yes i not understand hou have problems with translation "google"
so , i you response to directly with my bad english, you have not a "translate" langage in line
Or you write this...because you have not the response solution

I give the response (nobody has found)

You give one BIG thank's to him one member here (not me), Only him make this... SENT to me one PEF for try...
WITHOUT him, you have NOT this info, because it's the ONLY MEMBER lost 5mn for sending to me this PEF

The good response is "7" (rawtherapee)
Checked with 100% Succes in PEF mode with k-5

Warning: Rawtherappe is always in BETA mode

Best regards, Jpette

I downloaded several versions of Raw Therapee (windows) yesterday and they all crashed.
Maybe it is because I am running Win Server 2003, but from what I read, it should have worked. Even the Adobe DNG converter does not work yet.
Guess I'll have to wait until the K-5 profiles become available... :-)

Linux users may also wish to check out Darktable. Handles the latest Pentax PEFs just fine.

Silkypix Version: 4.1.41.2 supports K-r and K-5 and all the other new camera's.

I think they are allmost allways the quickest especially in the Japanese version.

And it does not crash.

dcraw. it is not a "converting" tool, it is _the_ source for decoding and demosaicing algorithms for i would say 85% of the industry (except the "oem" software writers, who i expect get specs from the respective manufacturers, not havign to reverse engineer). many of those you mentioned actually base their engine on dcraw. editing (whatever you mean by that) is the same regardless of raw file, you have to do decoding/demosaic first anyway, so that's where your answer is. the correct answer was given in the first reply: dcraw.

edit: you might want to have a look at this if you don't get what i mean (from your friends at rawtherapee)

So....?

Exist also for OS win64, linux and mac and some others, i have win32 ,
And for Others systems, "google" is your best friend
Best regards Jpette

"Silkypix Version: 4.1.41.2 soutient Kr et K-5"
With DNG YES, With PEF NO ...? or change ???

Only PDU 4.30 and 4.31 have PEF AND DNG Edit AND Rawtherapee also.

nanok: Yes,It's true...but is only demosaic, me say / talk FULL edit (not of read converter), you understand

jpette, thank you for the link, but I generally do not download code from an unofficial source.
Below is where I found the various versions, and the version you are offering appears to be the latest build from Nov. 13 which is not yet available at the site below.
I won't take the risk.

Jpette,

I understand both your English and the Google translation. Your French is best of course

I'm actually surprised how good the Google translation really is. In particular, I liked the "I know I" for "Moi je sait"

However, somebody still has to teach Google "dematriceur" which btw isn't the literal translation for demosaicer

Although it does not list the K5 as supported, Silkypix 4.1.41.2 does open K5 PEF files.

The supported camera list on the English part of the site is not up to date. The K-5 is supported since two versions allready.

See the list on the Japanese part of the site.
