Wow Andreas that is a great shot. I have the 50-135 but I am wondering if the 55-300 is faster because it is not SDM?

when I bought the 55-300 I was using the da50-200 on the K-x and initally had the impression that the 50-200 is a bit faster in focusing (the55-300 is better in IQ though). With the K-5 the lens focuses fast enough even in AF-C cont shooting mode. I don't have any more experience with any faster focusing long glass. I always wonder how would the da200 or the da300 behave in the similiral conditions. Anyway the da55-300 is definitely usable on the K-5.

Heres a few from florida today. very cloudy and overcast, but the capture, fast focus and quality with the sigma 50-150mm was surprising.

Questions for Benisona

I'm a Nikon user contemplating a K-5. At the moment and probably for the next 2-3 years I take quite a lot of school sports photos (Rugby, Hockey Netball etc), often in poor light, using a Nikon D200 and Sigma 70-200mm. AF on that combination is adequate for my purposes, just, the main inhibiting factor being IQ in low light.

It's quite difficult from reading reviews etc to form an impression as to how the AF capabilities of the K-5, say with a Sigma 70-200mm or similar, compare with my current equipment. I see Benisona was a former Canon and/or Nikon user and hence have 2 questions.

(1) You said the posted shots are straight out of the camera. Could you please clarify whether any sharpening has been applied (I assume not)?
(2) How does the K-5 AF compare with your previous Canon/Nikon equipment and what was it?

I'd be very grateful for any help in this respect that you (or others reading this) can provide.

Alan
