I re-read through the posts and I had incorrectly presumed that "retiring" a lens would mean and "older" lens, which I'm not sure is what the OP meant. I have retired a few lenses, like the 16-45, only because I replaced it with a better lens at the time. I think it is reasonable to buy better glass if you buy a better camera, but that doesn't necessarily mean that the "better lens" is new.

You surely can and a 6 Mp camera could be enough for that too; large print are to be seen from a distance, not to hold in your hand; that's leads to the conclusion that this topic doesn't make much sense. Whatever pleases you, is good enough for me.
