http://www.*************/reviews/pentaxk5/
Only outscored (barely) in it's class (semi pro) by canon 7d and by the 3 pro cameras they allow comparisons to on score (all 3.5-4 times the price)
7D is now slightly lower priced locally here
Great to see Pentax get recognized by these guys. they are very influential in buying patterns despite what any of us think of them.
the biggest quibble was on the complete system front, and i would have to agree that canikon offer more complete solutions, however they did make special note of the limited series and the ability to use all the old lenses
about time Pentax got such praise

Like them I agree the price will drop soon enough (which is where it will gain on the 7D then)
Now I'm just waiting for the ff version to appear since it is the logical bump from a camera that is very tough to beat (really there isn't much to fix on an evolutionary scale for the next model that i can see with perhaps more effective video controls

Adam,
Ive just received my K-5 and I'm working my way through the manual. In the
Pentax Interchangeable Lens manual it states on page 12.
'Do not hold down the lens unlock button while mounting the lens, otherwise the lens will not be properly mounted'
Could you please comment on this, as it conflicts with advice given in your excellent review.

You have to release it right before the lens is all the way in - that's the optimal way to do it. If you release it too late, then you have to wiggle the lens a bit to get it to lock.

Great review, good job!

I already regret, that I don't have the funds right now to get myself a K-5 right away.
But now I know, how to focus my equipment, so when the time comes for the new body, I at least can keep my lenses.

It was a good review Adam and as a potential new K-5 owner I really appreciated the setup guide you included.

I was holding off buying a K5 till I saw this review. It also came in handy when answering the all important question "What can this camera do, that your half a million other cameras can't do?"
