Pay attention that f8 is not the best aperture for FA77.
For FA*24/2 - F8 is the best.

I think that problem is in bad copy of FA*24 in review....

here you can check real life K-5 + FA 77 exaples, in some shots I missed focus a little bit - it's my fault DNG files were converted in Lightroom 3.2 with default settings. You can select full size JPGs

Pentax K-5 with FA 77
Thanks a lot.

My modest advice:
When you use LR, put ALL NR to ZERO (if it's not high ISO), otherwise the photo will be less sharp.

Some photos at f2.2 are sharper than at 2.8
A lot of photos are misfocused...Why?

Can you show me the photo with the same IQ from K-5?

Circular reference alert !!!

AFAIK, Klaus is awaiting his K-5 and commented on reports he saw elsewhere. Like comments from people like you, ogl.

We all shouldn't refer to non original information. As soon as Klaus does his first test, we sure will hear from him again. BTW, he's a 18-135 on its way

The previous model Klaus will compare with is the K10D.

Is it not free forum?
wtf????

ogl, as soon as you compare, you need a benchmark, you have compared the lens on one camera to another, therefore you have benchmarked and tested.

Did I mention prohibition or restricting what you say? No. I was merely pointing out that what you said about not using a benchmark and testing was inaccurate.

Please carry on...

Oh...It would be very good if you'll show us the samples.
Anyway, please, prepare some DNG files.

Today I got my FA* 24mm f/2.0

My first impression was quite positive ...

You will find a 100% crop of the center of a test picture attached. It was tungsten light, shot wide open at ISO 100, 0.4 sec. Not too sharp, but I think OK for wide open. What's your opinion. Next tests will follow on weekend when I have time and better light ...

If you want to play with some DNGs (center/border resolution at f/2.0, f/5.6 and f/8.0), check out:

The 2 I looked at suffered from severe camera shake. #655 and #657. If I were going to use that situation as a test subject for a wide open lens, I would boost the ISO. As they are, though we appreciate the effort, the photos don't help the reputation of the K5 with the FA*24 f2.0.

Edit.. After looking at the Exifs (your shutter count is in the low 400s btw), I see you used the timer to fire the camera, with a 2 second delay, suggesting a tripod or some other support. In the 655 photo I'm able to pull a sharp photo of the whiskey bottle but the FA31 next to it is way off for some reason. Same thing with #657 (which is even worse and looks like camera shake). #660, shot at f8, looks much better but with #662, shot at f5.6, the 31mm is out of focus again.
