Hey, Falconeye, If a person used a SanDisk Class 10 Card, wouldn't the K-5 be able to shoot for a longer time then the above mentioned?

No, it is dependent on the camera's buffer. The speed of the card will only determine how fast the buffer clears once it is full.

the gap between the speed of a modern memory chip and "permanent storage" (solid state, like flash disks, hard disks, you name it) is so imense that it doesn't really matter in this case how fast the card is.
I would have something to say here. But not in this thread. Unsubscribed now.

My last two cents on this. I really don't care, but this is what i think. Pentax saw the k-5 flying off the shelves, and new the people were crying about burst rate. It was a success so they bought a very good compression software from a third party. The software team just implemented it in the firmware and wham ready to go. Really very simple i think. Adobe or another very good company that specializes in photos and compression software were brought in.
It probibly cost them a bundle.

The Original post, including the sensational title is as of right now essentially Non-Factual.

I have no intention to discuss other matters concerning the K-5 buffer using this thread, so that's the end of this thread for me.
