The K20D would got itself tied in knots with this shot. Colour noise (red tinge everywhere) would have been present, grain would have been a lot more visible, all in all a good 15 mins of PP would have been necessary just to get to this. Time is money and the K-5 is already paying back its €1,200
Do you still have the K20D? Any chance we could see an actual photo comparison of K20D vs K5 rather than a description of what you
think the result would be? From what I've seen so far and the DXO results, it looks like the K-5 would be 1.5 stops more sensitive, but 1600 on the K20 does not have the kind of trouble you describe IME.
PS I don't see that the eye is in focus. Focus appears to be on the brow, i.e. ahead of the eye.
