Hi
It could very well be the case, its hard to say. But this is one of those images where one is tempted to say the bird got photoshopped into the picture. Now I know it is not. I got into big trouble a few days ago here in this forum for making such a bold statement only to be proven wrong and I am smarting over it ever since. The bird sits "on the picture" rather than "in the picture". A very sharp object with a white sharpening halo against a smooth out of focus background always has this effect to me.

In any case, I have been using for many years now a dedicated sharpening program. It will allow you fine tune the sharpening process and one of its big strengths is to eliminate black and white sharpening halos. If your pic has this white sharpening halo this program will fix it. I don't use any other program to do my sharpening.

P.S. You are not a Collingwood supporter are you?

I remember that little contretemps

Thanks for the info. When I look at the full size .jpg I can's see any issues. I use a platelet sharpening plug-in with Bibble Pro before exporting to jpg and I haven't seen any issues with it. In this case I resized with IrfanView and thought that it might have introduced some artifacts. On second or tenth viewing, it's probably OK. It was the black breast side that I was concerned about.

Collingwood? No way. Hawthorn. It was the first place I lived in Oz and now I'm just up the road in Camberwell.

Richard.

Thanks Rupert (and Otis of course). Sometimes I wish I didn't care so much because it's pretty hard watching the loss these animals face almost every year.

Finally got around to editing some of my nephew...love the expression on his face in this one. It was taken with a Sigma 50mm f1.4, which is a REALLY nice lens which I'd highly recommend!
"What ?! You don't need a flash ?!" lol

Nice shots oscarpentax and bossa !

Yet....you obviously haven't had the papers through. hehehe

TOUGEFC (and others) - I see some of those photos were taken with the 15mm ltd - Looks like a really nice lens, and I know the reviews give it a very high score. What kind of shots do you find it best for?

Great shots ....this is the best advertisement for K5 ...hey you're not working for them ,right?
The only complain I have is that in some pics, there is no information about whitch lens has been used .I think it would be very helpfull .
I will join the K5 club soon I guess..
Thank you all for this forum.

Mayor's Mall 2011 Convention Hall in Asbury Park , NJ

Shot the local Mayor's Ball in Asbury Park. Melba Moore and Freddie Jackson were there and zombies from the Zombie Walk. This was my first event and it was a freebie to get practice. But i learned a lot about shooting with a flash in different lighting conditions.
