I hope this blurring is just the lens and not the camera
I've seen this issue before. I bought a Tamron 17-50 a while ago from a Sydney retailer. The first copy was a shocker, with pronounced de-centering causing big problems with blurring on the left side of the image at all focal lengths and practically all apertures. The lens' defects also sent the CA through the roof. The problem was caused by the lens being knocked about during shipping, I suspect, because it was packaged very poorly when it was sent to me, and I suspect it got bounced about a bit on a concrete floor somewhere. I returned the lens, got another copy sent out from the retailer, and it is excellent in every way. So I wouldn't rush to blame the camera here.

Cave Photos

Here is a "natural" light caver photo. On a cave mapping trip I was able to catch Ken sketching. Taken with the K-5 and the DA17-70. Only the caver headlight for lighting.

Yes, I was finally able to figure out how to post a photo from my Flickr gallery here on Pentax Forum!!!

Here is another one from this cave trip. It was light by a Bescor 150 LED video light behind the caver.

I have found with my lens that this happens at 17mm focal length and if I shoot at f4 and below, between f8-f11 the thing is razor sharp. I'm happy it's not a problem with the camera, I can overcome this problem if I remember not to use aperture below f5.6 or use a higher ISO say 200-400. I can now see why people buy Prime lens's which will my next investment.

Excellent trco. Would appreciate if you would advise what lens, settings etc and post-processing you used, because the result is fantastic. Cheers

@AdrianM: Thanks for the comment. I used 50mm 1.7 M reversed on full set of extension tubes + flash. Stacked with CombineZM, I made only crop and minor shadows adjustments with added contrast.

Hi and thanks! One is from Oporto, Portugal, the others are from Ottawa, indeed.

I used the kit lens, the 18--55 for the Oporto pic and the Tamron 10-24 for the Ottawa pics.

I am really likin' those Snake photos...the shallow DoF works quite well.

salgueiros - That photo of the building with the green and red roof with the snowflake projections looks quite awesome. I can only imagine what it's like to actually be there and see it.

My latest HDR Creation... a couple hours of work went into this one. (with breaks included)
A photo from August, but finally got around to processing it.

A-10 Warthog at the Pima Air and Space Museum in Tucson, AZ.
