I took it up a couple of years ago as a stress break from work Steve. It was a sideline to walking - played off 5 at golf but its not a game to alleviate stress. Semi retired a few months ago (50 this year) but it was a poor winter photography wise and I'm looking at working again part time. Doing something (financially) with the photography would be nice. It is starting to look like a possibility that I might make a wee bit of cash as a few people have started asking about purchasing pictures and a local mag with a decent circulation has just asked to do a feature with 5 or 6 pages of photos. I do like to see my pictures on a wall - as you say its a very nice feeling. I was lucky enough to get a couple of images commended in the UK Landscape Photographer of the Year which was great as I'd taken the pictures with about 9 months experience. One was featured full page in the Sunday Times and that was very definitely a nice feeling.

Like I said, you have a wonderful sensibility.

Do yourself a favour though and don't try to become a 'real' photographer. Your work is developing nicely and you really don't need that extra pressure. I am stunned that you aren't making zillions selling your pictures frankly. A decent Art Gallery would be the right place to go as it would add value to the work and your reputation.. unlike work a day stuff.

EDIT: Desaturated the purple in the sand a bit. Initially I wanted this to remind me of Paul Gauguin as the foreground had a nice patchwork quality to it like his paintings.

Nice set Steve!

Your shots have inspired me to get one of those close up lenses Frederic but they aren't imported into Australia and the only place I can find a listing is at B&H - they aren't cheap either . I was wondering whet the new MFD of your 50-135 is with that lens attached. My 50-135 is as sharp (sharper probably) than my Tamron 90 F2.8 so I was thinking of copying your lens setup for a test at least.
Cheers
Thank you ! I will look this evening for the Micro Floppy Drive (I searched a long time to find the acronym ) of my 50-135.

You can find the Kenko equivalent on CamBuy for 133 AUD. (I have chosen the 77mm version because I can use it on all my lenses. The 50-135 needs a 77 to 67 step down filter).

Nice water shots Simon !

here are the values : All photos at F2.8 !

At F2.8 there is a little bit blur around the focus, but it disappears at F5.6...

Some images

Here are a few from this past weekend. I'm still getting to know the camera, big upgrade from my Woot refurb K100D! The only PP is to reduce the file size for upload, these are all as shot, WB sunny in camera, file type JPEG.

Another macro flower; 90mm Panagor, I don't know if it was wide open, but 1/100, ISO 400

Just Dandi,

Cheeers,
P.T.

Couple more images

The tractor is from weekend before, small town spring parade.

We have Bullock's Orioles, I don't think they're any relation to the Sex Pistols (besides that was Bollocks! )... I set up the big lens on a tripod and waited for his return. Finally gave up and took a pic of the old little bird house in the dead cherry tree. Not much of a composition or anything, but I think it shows how great this lens does pair with the K5. I'm very happy with my ebay lens and Camera Land body!

Now just to figure out how to stretch my wings and produce some amazing and beautiful images like many of the others posted here... Now I just need to find some subjects and recognize the image opportunity when I do find it!

>>>Question: How are you inseting images from Photo Gallery? I'm inserting them as Medium, linked to gallery. The IQ of the Medium insert lacks, are you inserting them as Original only?<<<

Cheers,
PT

Thanks for the comments on the last set guys.
Here is an example of K-5 shadow recovery. This was the last shot in the set.

Great photos everyone!

Posted these on the "other" forum, but why not here. These were taken with the Sigma 10-20 4-5.6, as I try to develop my appreciation and knack for ultrawide angle. Lightened shadows in post:

1 month old K-5

Two pictures from my new K-5 with 18-55 WR lens (near my home in Portland, Maine) The K-5 replaced my Canon 60D and I am pleased with the results.
