South Africa

A few of the shots that I've processed from my recent travels to South Africa. I filled up a huge number of SD cards over 3 weeks...

Went out to Patoka Lake and unfortunately it was great and overcast, but wanted to post a couple of shots.

Wow, I let a few hours or perhaps a day or two pass without checking this thread. Beautiful shots, everyone. The horses are great, Leon,--the pictures almost make me want to take up riding (I haven't been on a horse since the early '70s); The zebras are especially terrrific, toothpick; Always like your lake shots, Rondec.

Wow these are stunning!
I think I might just wait a few days before I post anything... I don't want people pitting my shots against these.

The Stand-Off

Thanks for the comments...Here is another one, which was an incredible situation to be in...and shows how photography can be all about the timing and being in the right place at the right time. The trouble is I can't decide which crop to go for - the shots below are the uncropped photo first, and then a series of crops which I'm trying to choose between. Small versions as I know this isn't really the place for multiple versions of the same image!

I know I want to crop it, because I don't want the distraction of the old farm building in the background, but choosing between the other crops (or something else entirely) is causing me problems!

Nice shots, toothpick. To my eye with the original and #2 and 3 the zebra is clearly aware he's being watched, with 1 and 4 it's not clear, maybe an 'ambush' instead of a stand off.

The cloning tool could expand those bushes and cover the house, just sayin...
