Thank you Jean ! Can't remember. It is very rare. I think there was one last month here on the marketplace for a couple of hours and was directly sold...
It is a shame that Kenko doesn't make it for Pentax any more

Rondec-- Another lovely set, though I'm most drawn to the second capture...it's one that really only works as a BW image I think. (Kind of strange, but it reminds me of Moonrise, Hernandez... though God would have given Ansel a shaft of light on the sheep in the lower right foreground.)

A question on your landscape processing, though: when you have a backlit scene like this, are you making layers of two bracketed exposures and using masks, or does the K5 have enough dynamic range you can pull things together by just tweaking the sliders?

Both of these were shot with multiple exposures, using HDR Efex and then using Silver Efex to convert them to B and W.

These were the color shots that I got:

Barnyard (color)

Tree (color)

Rondec-- Thanks so much for elaborating...it's great to start to understand how folks work. Do you find that it's second nature to rely on camera presets (e.g. a five shot "burst" with, say, a 1/3 EV gradient) or is it something you find yourself puzzling out for each individual shot when you're out in the field? (Literally in this case...)

Agree completely. Think I'm going to have to break down and get the Nik color effects to add to the Silver effects that I already love.

It is pretty easy to just set your camera to that setting. I have my RAW button set to bring that up. As to knowing what to shoot and how to shoot, you basically have to shoot and "develop" your photos and over time you learn what works. Folks around here are really good at giving helpful advice to assist you in the process.

Edit: Learning photography isn't easy, but it isn't hard either. Learning your way around a particular camera is the same way. I've been shooting with a K5 (and before that a K7) for probably 4 years and am very comfortable with how to change settings on the fly. But it doesn't come over night. Practice makes perfect...

Thank you both so much. I don't know that Nik Effects is quite as good as Topaz, but it certainly gives me good results and is easy to learn (and it was a lot cheaper).
