A few shots to appreciate the capacities of the K5 with a DA*300mm and the ISO 80 advantages.

Just a common everyday "snap" of old Carl at lunchtime.....the K5 in Tav mode makes these so easy!

Some of mine might be considered not safe for work so they are here in my Pentax forum's album:

Wasp building mud nest

Here's a macro series from a recent holiday in South Africa. I saw this wasp on our cottage verandah, going back and forth to a nearby river bank, fetching balls of mud and moulding them into a perfectly cylindrical entrance to its new nest. I had to spend an hour or so creeping closer and getting it used to me being close, after which I was able to photograph it going about it's business (K-5, DFA 100mm macro WR, and AF160FC ringflash):

Wasp arrives with new mudball:

After reversing inside, starts to mould the wet mud onto the nest entrance rim:

Departs to fetch the next load:

New layer, not yet dry:

Very nice series, Ashwin!

I got my replacement yesterday--it's great to be back in business. This with the Sigma 50-150 at ISO 1250.

A tiny wildflower bloom...it's almost that time of year!

Here's one taken a couple of weeks ago, with the kit WR lens. I really don't mind it, even though its not as excellent as the DA15 Ltd.

And another just now in almost dead dark.

Finally

Oh this camera is a joy...I have no concerns about getting the exposure I want with wildlife, and can just concentrate on composition. So I've finally nailed my Blue Tit shot. May be a common garden species (and the final exposure settings not at all extreme)...but on to the next
