One with the DA *55 (I shot a similar scene with my K-01 and FA 31, but I think I like this version better).

A K-5 replaced my old and beaten up K-7, and I must say I really like it

Relatively recent outing at some karst lakes near me, all with Tamron 17-35 SP:

Nice series and TFS ... I went from a K-7 to a K-5, as well ... really like the body, but was not to thrilled about the K-7's sensor, thus the later upgrade. J

Nice shot FS! Here we would call that a hawk, and this is a buzzard.......better know as a Black Vulture around here.

Regards!

Thank you Rupert ! I shot it trough a very very old and milky window

Yes hawk is the common name of eagles, kites, harriers and buzzards.

This one is a common buzzard /Buteo Buteo). An interresting french site gives a lot of informations (also in english) : Oiseaux.net.

Superb shot of this black vulture ! In Luxembourg we only have bailiffs

Another "oldie" drug up for post-a-thon : the K-5 with the "plastic fantastic" DA 35/2.4 @ f3.2, 1/30s hand-held & 2500 ISO ... only ambient display case light and through display case glass ... not too bad. (x-post)

Have been a follower fan of this thread ever since I began shopping for a DSLR. And I always appreciate everyone's contributions- no matter how small or humble!

However, I'd like to make special mention of the following:

Rondec- among your stream of ever nice images coming out of the hoosier south, that DA* 55mm image of a golden moon over deep blue field & woods is just- wow!

Savoche- I also really enjoyed the foreground / background effects in the Luangwa River image, and the old film look works superbly- that must have been some walk!

Jean- love the crystal mineral image- especially considering the conditions by which it was it captured!

fs999- well, I'll always hold you partly responsible- for why I'm not at the Nikon forum… thank you!

Thanks ... I was quite surprised by the result ... also had to battle with the glass of the display case as well ... the first attempt at the same shot was not as good ... so, thanks again for the positive feedback, and only if the Houston museum would have allowed for tripods ... but, then again, I was on vacation and (internationally) traveling light without such support J
