Thank you JimmyDranox, Rupert, Erictator and Jean !

Super shots and sound Rupert ! I don't want that bird near my sleeping room Some time ago I was awakened by an owl in the middle of the night !

Again, nice body of work you are building FS999. You have a good eye for shape and texture, which I find myself relying on more and more when confronted with nothing else to inspire me. I'll go on nature hikes hoping to do some birding or whatever, and everything seems to go into hiding sometimes, that's when I'm really glad I stuffed a macro lens or something else in the bag other that the long tele. heh heh.
Do those lillys grow wild where you live? I pay for those as cut flowers for my wife!
Eric
You don't need a macro lens, a Kenko Uniplus tube 25 is enough. With a good lens like DA*55mm, DA*50-135 or even the DA40XS it will be the best macro lens !
The not so wild lily is located in a small town near Luxembourg, named Kehlen, on a public parking, I made a whole series with my Soligor 20mm lens on that parking

Wonderful shots Arizona Dave !

K-5IIs & FA 50 f1.4 shot wide open, I wouldn't trust the AF with large aperture lens on my K-5 classic but the IIs is just a joy to use

The last one is indeed a very good photo!

Here is one from me, taken with the 18-55 WR, also boat related:

Luisalves, wonderful picture.

But hey, stop posting marine photos. You make me miss the see, and I can't go there. At least now.

Thanks Rupert-
Bluebirds are usually pretty elusive but this one posed for me.

ThreeSixtySix - Zion and Heavens

ThreeSixtySix - Zion and Heavens

One of the goals I set for my 365 project was to learn how to do star trails from a stack of multiple exposures. I had attempted long single exposure trails with mixed results. As the weeks ticked by it seemed I would never find the time and place to get out on a dark night. On the very last day of the 365 project - November 30, 2013 - I left the family in the warm motel room in Springdale, UT and headed out into the cold dark night. I drove into Zion National Park and tried to find a good view from several spots along the highway until I finally settled on this location not far from the long tunnel entrance. It was very windy, so I couldn't place any trees in the composition and I had to ensure my lightweight tripod was low and steady.

I started shooting at 10:58 PM and didn't get done until 2:31 AM. I set the built-in intervolometer for 400 exposures at 25 seconds each. Thanks to Pentax for such a neat built-in feature I waited in the truck. It was 25 degrees and very windy. When the 400 exposures were done I shot another 10 minute exposure to get the detail from Zion Canyon in the foreground.

I still had no idea how to stack all of these exposures together. I had intended to make this #365, but in the interest in wrapping up the project I selected another photo. These photos have been sitting on my computer for nearly 6 months.

Finally, today I started on it. With good instructions from a YouTube video, I managed to piece it all together. It took over 5 hours! Why use all 401 exposures though. It will be an extra credit edition to my 365 Project, so I used 365 exposures for the trails and the single foreground exposure for an even ThreeSixtySix.

That was totally uncalled for!

I've decided that I don't need the DA*300, with or without a TC. Don't ruin that for me, ok?
