This was my first time at Horse Shoe Bend. It was around noon and we were on out way out of Page, AZ...this is only a few miles south on US 89.

I had to get the obligatory shot for my collection.
It's shots like this that make me want a UWA like a Sigma 10-20.

I took a break from conference calls and console work and slipped out to the yard for what is probably my favorite photographic pastime - macros... Here's what I found:

The spider took for evar to get in focus because the wind was blowing his web back and forth - only about 1/8", but he was only 1/4" long, toe-tip-to-toe-tip.

Couple of images from the Mutek festival in Montreal; first real try at using the k5 in club environment.

I mostly use the 50-135 at (very) high iso; because of low lighting; focusing was difficult when is was dark, but often it was good...

and more on flickr.

I really love those dense, rich colors, particularly the one with the 35mm f2 Super Tak - i even kinda like the pentagonal bokeh; the bokeh's job is to get out of the way, and it does it admirably here. Great stuff!

When I saw your first image, it reminded me of this one I shot some time ago:

The last photo i took with my 55* before i sent it back. Its focus was just too inconsistent to be useful imo. Too bad because it produced gems on the occasions that it decided to focus properly.

Thank you. Roses are fun to photograph because even among like types, there's a lot of variety. You can see more here if you like. Every year when they bloom, I drag out all the lenses and play around.

For half a second, I thought yours was one of mine and went back to see if I said I made it with the 35. Yep, that lens has some crazy bokeh wide open.

I had to add one of my latest attempts. Spring has been hit and miss in eastern Idaho, but I did manage to get outside last week and try and take some pictures of bees. I gave up as they just were co-operatiing so instead I took some pictures of my apple tree that is loaded with blossoms.
