What Really Matters......
I brought Otis in to view these shots for his Professional Squirrel opinion. Not much else matters if a camera can't render a great Squirrel Shot, does it? He viewed all the shots here, and generally thought they were excellent, but when he got to the Squirrel on P.1 , he did think it was soft....and "cuddly"! He also thought that those thinking the K5 is deficient are in need of some serious counseling, a major eye examination, and a visit by his Squirrel Army. Otis is not much for BS....unless he is the provider, and wonders how this kind of insanity comes about in the human world? Me too!

@dylansalt, a) have you seen the shot that was 'black' out of the camera from JeffJS's 1st post in this thread, and after 4EV plus other processing added in post recovered a useful photo? (there's a well traveled thread about it)
b) my latest shot above is ISO 2500, -0.7 EV, JPG from the camera with some light post processing and further calling for only an amazingly light add'l noise reduction since there's almost no chroma noise to speak of. Not only can the K10D not achieve that level of ISO, the ISO 1600 from my K10D have had profoundly more noise, mostly in objectionable chroma noise requiring a level at or near 100 noise reduction ... but when shot at -0.7 EV to make the photo's bright area match the scene, then with light-fill added in post to make the limited dynamic range of the K10D's photo resemble what the eye sees in the shadow areas, it would have uncovered and amplified the colored [mostly purple] banding the sensor produces.

I'm not sure if you can be objective here or feel a necessity to defend your purchase or trusty K10D's honor to the end... but the K-5's low/available light handling is in another league entirely and very much is exactly everything I was hoping & expecting my K10D to be, but fell far short. And to be able to produce good results I needed to become an expert in its limitations and work within those boundaries; the K-5's boundary limits are far far wider. My K10D with its KatzEye focus screen is going to be relegated mostly as a manual focus rig w/my Pentax A 50/1.4 or Cosina A 55/1.2 when I'm in the mood for that from here on out.

Here are a couple of shots i took. The first one was taken with the pentax A 50mm f1.4 at iso 100, the second one was taken with the sigma 105 f2.8. Now if anyone could let me know how to upload files larger that 1.5mb i would greatly appreciate it.

Very happy with my K-5. I am not a portrait photographer but couldn't resist snapping this one of my son as he took a break from writing at the kitchen table. Coming from the K-7, I never would have dreamed of ISO1600 quality like this.

Seriously pefoto01 - I am sure I have seen you comment on dozens of k5 pictures saying they are out of focus I know your trying to decide on getting a k5 but just seems strange you don't have one but always are replying with same comment.

Sorry not trying to be rude but I am wondering what your point is?
