Thanks to K5 I can shoot those kind of shots without my tripod.
Yesterday it was the only way I could shoot as it was a very high tide
and there was no place I could secure my tripod on the beach and take any picture...
Last image is shot at ISO 400, something I never do when I want
a high quality sunset photo and unfortunately this image kind of shows why...
The dark areas are noisy and there is no detail there. But it's nothing
against my K5, this is the nature of the dark objects in the sunset scenes.
The only way is to bracket and use a much brighter exposure, often 5,6 stops
or more brighter to bring some decent detail into those dark spots.
So to answer your question - I didn't do any of that in this image, it's a single
exposure, some very minor tweaks done. It was a nice sunset

Cant believe the brilliant shots on this thread. What a camera. Kenn100d love that snowscape if I can call it that it that and I know under one of those roofs is small pub selling Fraziskaner. Andi that last shot is stunning. Minahasa are you sure that shot is your front yard it looks like a fairytale garden. Amazing. Rupert can I recommend Hoegaarden for Otis after a long hot day modelling on the cat.....I mean squirrel walk.. Nothing better than a cool crisp glass of Hoegaarden with notes of corriander and lime. Bring your own nuts.

People (trolls) say that the k-5 af-c system is not fast enough to keep up with birds in flight?

Wow, really? My KX AF is plenty fast to snap birds in flight, I can only imagine how well the K5 does...

I love this thread. It's so refreshing to see posts from people who actually like their camera (I mean, not just here, anywhere on the Internet)

Sometimes just common shots are what we shoot.......for practice, out of boredom, or just to shoot something we like but is not significant to others.
Put your K5 in Tav, pick the speed you need, and let the K5 do the rest. It may go to a high ISO if you have it allowed, but you will get the shot you might have otherwise missed.

ISO 4,000 suits my needs here just fine....and at 1/160 speed was adequate to stop motion blur.

Regards!

planedriver, was the first image shot at the long end of the lens? What about the duck pics? Also, was there any pp or touch up of the images?

Thanks,

the first one was taken at 230mm and cropped. developed in the Silkypix software, using the "bleach bypass"setting. The ducks were taken at 300mm f9 iso1600 although I like to use 260mm more as the IQ is noticeably better there. PP? normally I play with the contrasts, saturation,WB just a little bit to see how it looks like with different settings.

Nice work! Thanks for the info - very impressive with the ISO 1600, I can see that the iso performance is quite good on the K5...
