I think this turned out quite dramatic in b&w. X-post from the Sigma 10-20mm Lens Club.

Hi
This bird is photoshopped into the picture, isn't it?

Greetings

Hi

There is one thing people get wrong very often when they "doctor" images, like adding things. They do not understand shadows. Wrong shadows give it away all the time. It takes a keen eye and understanding to get it right. Also edgework is vitally important and if it does not blend in with the "air" around it, it always looks to be sitting on top of it. It is very difficult to do and takes a lot of practice.

The bird for example has no shadow under the front wing and under the head. It looks like it was illuminated from below. Also the edges of the bird are too hard and even have white outlines. I have attempted a quick and dirty correction, (2minute job) would you like me to post it ?

Greetings

Schraubstock - You've 'corrected' a picture which isn't photoshopped?

I do have an 'understanding' of shadow. If you look carefully there is nothing for a shadow to hit upon in the picture. The road and tree below the bird are too far below the bird for a shadow to hit.

The image is in no way doctored, and I can post you the original uncropped photo, as well as the next frame with the bird wing 'down' rather than up, if you'd like. This is exactly why I like the picture - it ISN'T shopped, even though it looks like it must be.

I'll accept your apology happily

Here are the original uncropped pics straight out of camera
