It could very well be the case, its hard to say. But this is one of those images where one is tempted to say the bird got photoshopped into the picture.
Now I know it is not. I got into big trouble a few days ago here in this forum for making such a bold statement only to be proven wrong and I am smarting over it ever since. The bird sits "on the picture" rather than "in the picture". A very sharp object with a white sharpening halo against a smooth out of focus background always has this effect to me.
In any case, I have been using for many years now a dedicated sharpening program. It will allow you fine tune the sharpening process and one of its big strengths is to eliminate black and white sharpening halos. If your pic has this white sharpening halo this program will fix it. I don't use any other program to do my sharpening.
