Not your idyllic landscape...

...but a landscape just the same.

When I travel and time permits I wander through the city always looking for the angle that (hopefully) sets me apart from the common holiday snappers.

During my recent visit to Saigon (now Ho Chi Minh City) I noticed that the rooftop of the Hotel Majestic was under construction. I immediately sensed an opporunity for some great opportunity. I went up the lift, climbed some stairs and made my way across some corrugated iron roofing, to my surprise the workers there did not mind (Vietnamese people are so friendly and work save rules don't exist) and took some shots of the Saigon River. This is one of them.

Greetings

Soft light?

Looks more like harsh mid-day light to me

But nice shots anyways

Tony.

I took this picture with a Sigma 70-200 HSM II that I sold to buy a DA* 50-135.

The ones or my girl were mid morning, very beautiful overcast skies. Funny thing, I just love an overcast day... everyone else is all gloomy because the suns not out, and I am happy with camera in hand.

other two, were harsh mid day light, but indoors (longwood garden) so that was helpful with the light situation...

Concert in our kids' school. ISO 3200 most of the time. Handheld, low light, spots without though and direction, mic booms and random cables dangling all across the stage. With my previous camera this would have been one single drag'n'drop to the trashcan. The K-5 is a good friend. Still finding it difficult to get proper focus. It feels like the mic mesh works like a magnet for the center AF point no matter how far away I think I point.

Thanks Joe. Here's another shot of the same guy (next door neighbour) with the Sigma only this is a crop. The highlights are blown but I still like the atmosphere.I kinda miss this lens.
