I know right where you are talking about. Made it all the way to Gardiner. Saw lots of elk in some fields of clover a few miles north of town. Looks like the males are starting to herd up the females. I did stop at Makoshika State Park near Glendive, MT on the way out. Don't know of you have ever been there, but it is quite a beautiful place. You can even find the K-T boundary there.
