I' did have a hard disk failure recently. It was under warranty and was replaced by the shop technician without any further consideration. I asked him why it did happen. He said: -You had bad luck; only 1% of the hard-disks from this manufacturer are expected to fail. Guess your HD fits on that typical failure rate. -How much of them did fail already, I've asked. -I do not know for sure, but it happens from time to time, he said. Really?
So, it looks like you are left to the
infamous Uncertainty Principle, meaning that your camera shutter my fail you two months after purchase (not bad), or in two years (in Europe, you may be still fine, but check that expiration date, or last forever. I'm counting on that, but I can tell for sure.
