K-5 owners: What did you use before?

Hmm, I find it very interesting that nobody thus far was an *ist D series user just prior to buying their K-5. I guess one can assume that they went from an *ist to something else (K20D, K-7, etc.) before getting the K-5.

You would assume correctly.
My husband was using 2 cameras before the K-5: *ist-D and K2000D
I was using 2 cameras before the K-5: K100D and K20D

I listed K20D as my last primary, since I used it way more than the 100D. But, the 100D did get use. I have been a former owner/user of the *ist-DL. I can't remember if I owned another one in there or not. Add the K1000 film to my husband's list, as well. That was his first. He still brings it out at times.

K7, Kx and a few other systems like the D300 and 1D mark III. However most of my professional work has all come from the Pentax System.

The KX was my 1st Pentax DSLR and after using it for nearly a year, I decide to upgrade to the K-5. I owned several cameras before Pentax namely Nikon D50, D80, Panasonic LX3, Panasonic GF1 and also the Sony A55 for a shortwhile after I sold off my KX and waiting for the K-5. Pentax is the most user-friendly in terms of interface and controls. The K-5 is the best camera I have used thus far.

From a ZX-7 to a *ist DL to a K-7 to now a K-5. Could not be happier.

I would assume that most people who are still using an *ist are probably not "early adopters" who will jump on the K5d right away.

Of course I may be wrong

I started with the K200D and did a beginners Digital SLR Course with that camera but soon found it didn't suit my needs so bought the K20D which I use constantly. I've just put my order in for the K-5 as I wanted to wait for the dust to settle first. I'm very much looking forward to getting it now.

Received my K-5 +18-135 on Monday. Was using K20D before. The high ISO was like magic! And I the "save RAW of last photo taken" function is one of my favorite.

pentax spotmatic, pz-1p, ZX-L, pz-1, and mx

the K-5 is my first ever DSLR....and it's great...but the low light autofocusing issues and sensor stain is just killing me. i'm quite used to manual focusing, even with AF bodies....(thank god i have good eyes??) so i may just go back to manual focus in tungsten light. the sensor stain is a diff issue, going to have to surrender my K-5 one of these days.

Pentax KX and LX which are still in use. The K-5 is quite nice, good performance but somewhat lacking in handling and feel.
