Just moved from Nikon, which I used for pro purposes. Going back over the years before that it was Olympus E1 - Canon EOS 1 -1V film and 1D digital/ Contax and those wonderful Zeiss lenses, Bronica SQA, Pentax 645- Pentax MX - Nikkormat FT------ Kodak when I was a kid, can't remember what it was called but it had two apertures.
Retirement with the K5 beckons

Nikon D40x > Pentax K-x > Pentax K-r > Pentax K5! I am so stoked about getting the K5... The good thing is that it should actually keep me calm for a while... I've been on an almost yearly upgrade cycle (ridiculous I know) I swore to my wife this would be it for quite some time, Pentax 645D is a little out of our price range.

Its a shame that the route to the K5D could not be plotted.

Mine was

Ricoh XR-2s & Pentax KX -> Pentax PZ-1 -> *istD -> K10D -> K7D -> K5D

Note that I still actually have all of them, and except for the KX and XR-2s, have shot with every one of them in the last year, and all the digitals in the last month.

I have been shooting with a Nikon D90 and a Fuji X100. I also own an Olympus E-620 with some good lenses, but I have not been using it recently. I owned a K100D and a K10D, which I sold here, along with lenses, a few years ago.

About a year ago, I decided that I wanted to choose one interchangeable lens system to move forward with. The options I've been considering are FT, mFT, Nikon, and Pentax. Less DR and poorer high-ISO IQ took FT and mFT out of consideration. Also, Olympus is not producing new FT bodies.

In the end, I decided to go with Pentax and a K-5, rather than with Nikon and a D7000, but not because the system is superior in every way to Nikon. There are tradeoffs with either, but all factors taken together, I believe that a Pentax system will better meet my needs and fit with my type of shooting. So, my Nikon and Olympus kits are going on the market.

Film SLRs (Minolta and Nikon) in the 70s & 80s then P&S's (mostly Sony until my current Panasonic) then about 16 months ago I bought my K-x. Then I got a great deal on a K-r. And now I have a K-5 on the way.

started with k100d, k10d, k-7 and now k-5. I also have the d70 with a few inexpensive glasses.. however, don't use much though.

Even though the k-7 and k-5 are very similar ergonomically, I just noticed that there are many changes in the k-5 menus (new items and some item-lists moved).

R.I.P. Contax

Contax 167mt and RTS II Q, There are not many Contaxians, but it was (sadly) are fantastic camera/lens. The K5 reminds a little bit of what could be a Contax, mainly the heft.

I went from Kodak Instamatic to Pentax with a Program A/Program Plus 1985.

My first digital was an *istDS 2005.

I continued with a K20D 2008, but was never completely happy with that camera. A bit too large and the high ISO performance was not on par with the DS.
Was a bit dissapointed over the reviews of the K7 (high ISO performance downgraded again), so I jumped that in spite of my urge for a smaller replacement for the K20D.

The K5 seemed to be what I had been waiting for, so I bought it in June this year and sold the K20D.
I'm ever so happy with the K5 and it's newly installed EE-s matte screen, it's the perfect camera. And my little lovely *istDS is still a beloved friend.

Here's my complete history: DS2, K10D, K20D, K-7, then the K-5

Sort of tempted by the 1dx but I think for the sake of sanity I won't be getting one

I came from K20d+K200d which I still have, and I intend to keep the K200d as long as possible.

I started in januari 2009 with K20D and sold it in favor off the K-7 and got that in july 2009. In 2010 I had a Samsung G-LX1 wich is a *IstD-L2 cloon for 6 weeks or so. Nice camera. Bought the K-5 in november and sold my K-7 in december 2010 to get a second K-5. The first K-5 returned for the stains and got a K-5 Silver back. Bought a K100D Super this summer and used that for a few weeks. Sold my oldest K-5 to replace it with a new K-5 to start with a fresh shuttercount. I take a lot of pictures.
