Btw. is it normal that all these spots have about the same size?
Probably dictated by diffraction effects.
I think that for detecting the spotlheight, it is more interresting to make two pinholes in the bodycap, as far as the mirrorbox allows apart. (not tested though, I have no K5)

Holy cow that's a lot of dust! Did you clean it during a dust storm?

The quality control of Pentax's just a shame.

the sensor is usually shipped to the customer as WHOLE SET with AA filter. There are no any equipment at any DSLR factory to put AA filter to sensor. The sensor set is made under DSLR's manufacturer demand.

I don't agree with that. I know that Pentax is ultimately responsible for the end product, but i would sort of expect that if i was Pentax, that Sony would sell me a good product, especially at the price they probably paid for these sensors. I would expect Pentax to check the results of their early K5 assemblies, but its credible that they didn't check them at f22.

In life, there are doers and then there are critics. One needs no training to be a critic :-) in fast product development and delivery markets like cameras, there are bound to be problems of this sort, and have been with every camera mfr.

The dust is only visible under a certain angle, which was difficult to shoot...
