Stains on your K5d sensor poll

I sure hope everyone who is voting or posting here to the affirmative are making sure the spots do not move regardless of lens used (i.e. checking with multiple lenses).

I will bring mine in for warranty after christmas, i hope i can get some more information from Pentax in Holland about this matter what they will do with my camera.

I think the poster is suggesting that some users may claim to have the defect without ever looking at their sensor, attempting to clean, etc. If that's the case, it might be nothing more than lens dust for some.

My guess anyway.

If a person is drawing a conclusion by "a" photograph with "a" lens w/o testing on another lens, or exhaustive process of elimination, they would just be seeing spots on the lens.

Spots on the rear element look much, much different.
Very large, very soft spots.

Much to my despair, the tested (second one) K5 at the store shows the same thin(s) ... specks! All well lined up in the upper left quadrant.
So, I am not going to buy just yet; the seller is "taking care of that".
No serial No., sorry. Wasn't my SD card either.

By the same token, is there a specific serial number range in which the faulty sensors appear?

Back element? I wouldn't have thought that, as the spots on the rear element look much much different; very large, very soft spots.

...Front-element. Tiny spots on the front element, when a tiny aperture is used, coupled with using the camera output where JPG is used with in-camera JPG sharpening configured on high/max thus creates a halo, looks quite similar. ...They resemble this the effect being discussed here. Just was playing the role of "mr. obvious" to say someone eager to make "I got spots" hysteria might be tricked if all they do is look at "a" shot thru "a" lens.

NO STAINS

...except for one visible dust particle (f/32, ISO 100) near the centre that was easily removed using a rocket blower.

Note: This poll is rather useless due to bias: in general people having a negative experience are more willing to participate than people that only have positive experiences.

Yup, noted and added to my thread. Not a string-of-pearls, but an issue nonetheless. It's going to be difficult, but we should to distinguish between a single defective product - no product run is 100% perfect - and a systematic issue which the string-of-pearls appears to be.

If the string-of-pearls is systematic and visible in real photos, then Pentax better respond. If it is systematic but not visible in real photos, what should Pentax do? Where is the line drawn?
