Can a firmware update really fix the AF issue????

I mean, I like that the LV AF is now fairly decent (and works better in low-light), but it sort of defeats the purpose of having a dSLR...Is it realistic to expect that the AF is fixable via firmware update or are we just kidding ourselves?

i think it is, it is just an algorithm in the software that calculates the sharpest point in the image.

From the number of times "upgrade the firmware" has been suggested for any and all problems, I believe it can save the world. I hope it will fix your LV problem.

If you're talking about the front-focus problem in dim light, I believe it is, yeah, as the K7 didn't had such problems...

When Canon had the AF issues with the 1DIII the units had to be serviced by Canon, and even then some people where not happy with the performance. That is the reason the 1DIV came out so soon after the 1DIII.

We will see if it is a simple matter of new firmware.
