I'm not sure about Nikon, but you're right the Canon 7D, and 5D2 are eligible for pro service; the caveat is you need
at least 2 qualifying bodies
and 3 qualifying lenses. And there's also varying levels of CPS, so if you're at the lowest level, no loan equipment for you.

Getting into the Nikon Professional Services seems to be even harder; not only do you have to have
at least 2 Nikon professional bodies (not specified)
and 3 Nikkor or DX Nikkor lenses, but you need to be a full time professional photographer, a current NPS member sponsor, tearsheets, etc, etc
