365/7 = 52.143 = 52 weeks and 1 day.

Actually I'm pretty sure the Nikon D300/D300s and Canon 7D are eligible for pro service. Both of those cameras are in the exact same price class. And the Nikon D700 and Canon 5D Mark II are only a small price step above those, relatively speaking.
I'm not sure about Nikon, but you're right the Canon 7D, and 5D2 are eligible for pro service; the caveat is you need at least 2 qualifying bodies and 3 qualifying lenses. And there's also varying levels of CPS, so if you're at the lowest level, no loan equipment for you.

Getting into the Nikon Professional Services seems to be even harder; not only do you have to have at least 2 Nikon professional bodies (not specified) and 3 Nikkor or DX Nikkor lenses, but you need to be a full time professional photographer, a current NPS member sponsor, tearsheets, etc, etc

not all months are 4 weeks, most are 4 weeks and a few days, only February is truly 4 weeks
Fiscally a lot of companies run on a 13 period cycle (13 x 4 = 52 weeks, leaving only that pesky extra day) week 50 would be part of period 13 if their fiscal cycle starts on Jan 1st (not all do, In retail it's common to have it start in march or later - accountants apparently operate in a different world than the rest of us)

My top two Squirrels, Festus and Otis, are suggesting that they would make an exception for an old Squirrel Shooter? What are the chances?

I'll admit it took me about 5 seconds to "get it".... which is about 4 seconds more than it should have

Pentax USA does have a "Pro Program":
Digital Cameras and Accessories - Official PENTAX Imaging Web Site
Maybe professional photographers all over the world should inquire their Pentax dealer about something similar, in the respective regions? If enough people asks, who knows what could happen...

I vaguely remember reading about this a couple years ago, and it had completely slipped my mind. Thank you for pointing it out.

It looks like Pentax's PPS program is easier to qualify for than the Nikon and Canon ones (although more details are needed to confirm this). Also, there's no mention of a fee anywhere. My business is based in the US, so this sounds like a good option to consider.

That all sounds fantastic to me! I would HAPPILY pay an annual fee for this kind of support for professional tools. But you're wrong about:

a) Dupont and Mac tools not being for shadetree mechanics. We did sell paint to small independents, and they were covered the same way as our pro customers. Such is the benefit of paying the extra premium for using pro-grade products rather than Home Hardware consumer products. I can also get my local Snap-On dealer to visit me regularly if I want. I work from home these days.
Selling to and marketing to are not the same thing.

You forgot a leap year...... 4 weeks in 13 months, which is precisely why I am 104.
