Well, looks like they've added SDXC functionality to all current generation cameras (K-5, K-r, 645D). They've also supposedly improved Contrast AF, as well as unlocked all ISOs in Bulb mode on the K-5 and K-r.

Nothing about flash.

No change in the low light AF either.

Now that you have the update loaded, can you confirm if the update has had an impact on the Flash issue or the low light focusing issue?

Loaded firmware - no impact on flash or low light focus issues. No manual video control - or autorotation of portrait in playback - or adding movie mode to be saved as a user profile - no 24fps movie mode.

So they've added SDXC support - not that I'm ready to plop down $200 for 64GB.

I'm mystified by the overwhelming modesty of this firmware update in light of
A) Common consumer feature requests echoed across forums, blogs, e-retailer and pro reviews
B) Aggressive competitor firmware updates and baseline offerings. I will refer to d7000 updates which suggest Nikon has its ear glued to the consumer's mouth.

Hmm, this firmware update is hardly worth the effort...

I'm not sure what some posters are talking about - my K-5 now focuses in virtually no light (e.g. with the lights off, with light only seeping in from the next room through the doorway)! Focus appears better on all my lenses. Note that only one of my lenses is SDM - the DA*50-135. It's plainly focusing using only the light from the AF assist beam - something it had trouble with before.

It will be great if they make other improvements in the future, but this (the AF) is probably the most important fix they could have made right now.

The unlocking of the ISO in B mode is huge for me. Thanks, Hoya.

After upgrade I couldn't restart the camera at all.

The "on" button just didn't seem to work. This until I change few lenses and modes. Not inspiring...

Why doesn't the README.TXT mention a particular mode or type of lens if it is needed? 1.01 didn't cause this trouble, but I cannot recall what setup I had at the time.

Now it is fine (I guess), but I am not looking forward for the same experience again with 1.03

Indirect flash still tends to overexpose by about a stop, and I can't really comment on the low light issue.

Just a quick note: the firmware is identical to the "unofficial" version from Pentax Network.
