Looks like Pentax had to tick off their todo list first, i.e. to complete postponed features: 20 frame buffer and SDXC.

Let's hope they now have more resources to do the important stuff: Fix their bugs...
Yes. I think that is the most realistic way to look at this. It's easy to get pissed about not having what we want, but this makes sense. Now, hopefully they will follow up with bug fixes and some of the user requests.

For a day, the 1.02 firmware was missing from Pentax.jp; now it's back. But... it's not the same version: old was 1.02.15.0A, new is 1.02.15.07.
Regression?

You ask me, Pentax should contact us (all those Pentax dedicated forums) and openly propose their "beta" versions for us to test thoroughly, instead of issuing silent updates and crossing fingers...

This would certainly beat any validation campaign they could put up...

If you use the Japanese language on the Pentax.jp site and click through the links you will find the same one as the last few weeks (K-5 Firmware1.02.21.10), but the English language link is (K-5 Firmware1.02.21.07, a regression). The US site is still (K-5 Firmware1.02.21.10).

In my business, we introduce changes to small batches of products so if there is a problem it doesn't hit the whole market at the same time.

It's just prudent.

Obviously we test thoroughly beforehand, anyway...

Unless Pentax are really stupid, they will be reading the photo forums... even if the management are too ignorant/arrogant to do so (quite likely) the development engineers will be reading them, at home if (as is highly likely) this is banned at work.
