First times a charm!

Just got my K-5 today, S/N: 3909xxx, ordered from Amazon.

There's a note that its been upgraded to firmware 1.01.

No stains!

I'm glad I don't have to play the return game... I see one tiny speck which is obviously dust. I'm sure it won't be the first dust spot, and I'm not going to get hysterical about it.

Dust happens. It means you're actually using your camera. Ok, now the torture of waiting for the battery to charge....

I suspect "Upgraded to Firmware 1.01" is code for "this is a post stains camera".

Nope... mine was spotted despite the fact that it came with the 1.01 firmware out of the box.... it looks more like 1.02 would be a 100% guarantee that your camera body is free of sensor flaws... which still doesn't exclude other.... possible... things...

Mine is stll in service... 4 to 6 weeks they said... thank you Pentax, i'm really enjoying my time without my brand fu@#$g new K5 because of your awesome QC and return policies... (when purchased through local camera stores in Canada)...

Manufacture date was 12/06/10 if that helps. Before the supposed week 50 cutoff, but seems to be fine. We'll see if LV or usage brings anything out.

just a hint: my stains turned out after 1 month of usage when I first shot some long-time exposures ... but with a 39xxx serial number yours should be save

Coming from a K10d (which is still a nice camera) the K5 is going to blow your mind.

Christmas came in early November for me and I'm still thrilled
