Yes! And you will also notice that the distortion correction and lateral CA adjust shows up on the INFO screen as enabled as well. I have had pretty good luck with the K-5 Sigma 150-500 combo. Enjoy!

It's a great combo. Since the 150-500 it's kinda slow, you can use higher ISO on the K5 and still use F8 (but even at F6.3 the lens is OK).
Here some pictures:

Cheers!

This is becoming a very popular lens. In our Camera Club we have about six members now walking around with this lens on their Canon and Nikons. These are the first images that I've seen from a K5. Look pretty impressive. Love the colour in that last shot. How much sharpening did you apply on the airplane shots?

On the airplane shots I usually use the unsharp mask with 50% and 0.2 pix, I usually apply it twice.

OS

Does its in lens OS work on Pentax body?

I'm a bit confused, When I asked the e-seller just give unconvinced answers. They redirect me to contact Sigma.

I saw new model for this lens has less typical matte Sigma finish on the exterior of its body (Nikon).

Refer this link New toy! | Flickr - Photo Sharing!

Which one do you get ?

Many thanks,
RTogog

It works. Use the lens OS or your camera SR, both will work. Not very good at the same time though...

Is there any physical signs on the lens body to differentiate between old model (w/o OS) with the later model w in-lens OS?

Many thanks,
RTogog

There should be a switch to enable/disable the lens OS

Most of the time I forget to turn off the SR from the K5....and I really haven't noticed anything wrong with the pictures. I haven't tried a real test between SR on/off and OS on/off, but as I mentioned, most of the time I use both ON. No problems.

First hand experience has made it clear to me that OS + SR on at the same time will make the image even worse than with both off. It may not make a difference if shooting at a high shutter speed where you wouldn't need stabilization anyway, but at low speeds where SR/OS would be needed, it will indeed cause problems.

Consider this: OS and SR are completely independent systems with no interaction. With OS on, the optical image is already stable. However, the SR system still detects acceleration from camera shake, and thus moves what it thinks is appropriate, no matter what the image from the lens is doing. That means that the sensor moves relative to the stable image, introducing its own blur.

You're probably right...I usually use it with plenty of light and maybe the SR is not kicking in.
