K-5 "shadow" firmware Update : Pentax SLR Talk Forum: Digital Photography Review

Can this be possible? HAs anybody tried that?

latest publicly available firmware version as far as I know is v1.02.21.10

Mine is 1.02.21.07. so I can update with the new file 1.02.21.10 without any hesitance. Can someone tell me what're the main differences in between these two versions.

How would you know which 1.2 is it? is it dl from Latest K-5 Firmware Update : Software Downloads : PENTAX ?

Yes. I have the same question. I updated the firmware but I can't read v1.02.21.10 anywhere...

This was already discussed; use an EXIF viewer and you'll see.
Even without updating, you can use a hex viewer to take a look at the .bin file; the internal version is at the beginning, just before the "Copyright..." text.
And yes, the Pentax Japan firmware is 1.02.21.10.

I loaded the exif reader on firefox or as a stand alone software and only got - # Camera Make = PENTAX
# Camera Model = PENTAX K-5
# Picture Orientation = normal (1)
# X-Resolution = 300/1 ===> 300
# Y-Resolution = 300/1 ===> 300
# X/Y-Resolution Unit = inch (2)
# Software / Firmware Version = K-5 Ver 1.02
# Last Modified Date/Time = 2011:01:20 12:38:07
# Artist = Ofer-Hadas
# Y/Cb/Cr Positioning (Subsampling) = co-sited / datum point (2)
# Copyright Owner = Ofer-Hadas

Thanks Kunzite. Its a nice tool . Now I can see thats I was using 1.02.21.7 and now its 21.10 from the JP site.
