Mickey, thats probably the smartest thing to do.

I love the K5d's performance (it's downright amazing!), and I really see it more than even in the last 2 weeks as I've been using my K20d while it's at Pentax Canada. I really miss my K5d!!!

But that being said, before plopping down nearly $1500 for a new body I would suggest that everyone out there wait a few months for Pentax to weed out the problems in this camera. My personal opinion is that it was rushed to market for the 2010 Xmas season before the firmware was properly tested and quality control of the hardware was shoddy or nonexistent.

Worrisome developments.

I am interested in purchasing the K5 but there seem to be a few problems with it.

Now I learn that there is a queue for correcting those problems.

I have decided to wait a few months and see what develops.

Meanwhile my K100d will continue serving me faithfully.

Mickey
I believe the sensor stain issue was fixed in December, any unit ordered now should not have that issue. (It was a manufacturing problem that affected one batch.)

I would too: the k-x had to be sent to warranty repair and so I got the K-5 although the plan had been waiting until there would be a price drop (maybe all the way up to the K-3 or so). I got one of the stained bodies and have been holding sending that in case the low/tungsten (?) light AF issue is sorted out just in case that saves me the hassle of two returns instead of just one. I'm pretty confident there will be a fix for this AF problem, might take a month or two, though; waiting until this has been resolved would seem like the prudent thing to do.

As much as I love my K20d, it just can't compare to the K5d in TAv mode high iso work...

That is high praise, indeed.

I'm patient. I'm patient.
