News flash: Pentax will release something new... eventually.

In the past Pentax has always released the Silver versions of their DSLRs just before a new model comes out. Unless they changed their plans and want to offer it up outside Japan and more than a limited quantity of 1000, I don't see the silver version coming for quite some time. I'd like a Silver K-5 with a rule of 3rds viewfinder screen and solidified LCD glass, but it would be even more than the K-5, so no thanks.

The silver K-7 was released in February last year, 7 months before Photokina. Pentax announced no new cameras anywhere around that time, except for some P&Ss.

Please somebody nudge me when/if they release a silver K-5. I loved the look of the silver K-7 and the FA Limiteds would look perfect on it!

Damn that looks sexy. I had a chance to get one off eBay from Japan... but I never did get it.

For truth though, I'd be much happier with the K-5 in silver if I was going to plunk down the change to get a limited run camera.

Looking very dated now but I always rather liked the look of the Leica R3 Safari due to it's paint job!:

Looks like they're learning from their mistakes and making the mode dial silver as well!

In all honesty, though, the point of limited edition cameras is to be unique. However, Pentax has lately been releasing special versions of just about every camera, which is starting to defeat the purpose and, at least for me, starting to get old to the point where I have no desire to buy the limited version!

Back in the 1960s most SLRs were silver. We all drooled after the all-black ones that looked cool! (and I think cost extra).

The pictures say "limited"....which if it's the same as the last few limited edition cameras, it will only be available in Japan. But what is curious, why would a Europe site post a Limited pic unless it was released beyond Japan?
