I doubt that it would tempt me, given my very recent K-5 purchase, but it might quiet some of the folk here who are looking for a "pro" body.

Depends on what else comes with it - megapixels are clearly not the issue here, nor fps. We might even speculate that increasing MP will reduce fps. Or is this the right time for PRIME III?

Nikon folks, talking about this speculation, argue that 24 MP on APS-C will demand a great deal from the glass to avoid diffraction at medium apertures. Would this require a new generation of glass and/or prohibit use of most/all zooms?

I'm not yet convinced that adding pixels would offer much to most current and prospective Pentax users. There are many other areas demanding more attention.

Ha, that means I'll be able to afford a K5 sooner than I thought. I don't need no stinkin 24 Mp.

YES. I asked my wife, who is somewhat of an expert in the science of meaningless speculation, and she said the likelihood of a new model, probably a K5a, is very high. Expect a release date of May 5, 2011. Special upgrade pricing for all existing K5 owners will be provided.

(My Mayan psychic says they will release a full Frame on December 21st, 2012. It will be called K-Boom)

I'm speculating there will be a great new K-Boom marketing campaign featuring the ShamWow guy!

Nyt olisi paras ratkasu vaiihdettavat kennot. Voisi olla törkykasat, pikkusen kehittyneet ja super kuvaajat. Hinnat voisi olla laadun mukaan ja runko kaikille sama K-3.

Any thoughts out there?

Just a bit of my speculation...

Ben, I think you are right, we'll see an update in Spring. Spring 2012!

Actually, IMHO, a K-5 with its 3 major bugs fixed (stains done, focus in progress, flash hopefully not ignored) would be an awfully decent camera not needing replacement for a long time. Better let it mature than hunt for the next buggy release
Well I think that K-5 successor won't be seen before spring 2012. The silver K-5 will be the way to please customers and coming to stores next to the black one.

In 2011 I only expect Evil's or alike camera's. I hoped for full frame but not expecting it anymore. Pentax will be busy enough with releasing a new system.
