3hrs in -17C to -10C and K-5 + DA* 50-135 kept clicking without any problems, I started to freeze before the camera.

The biggest issue is not the cold weather, it is the temperature change -- cold to warm in particular. I usually give my camera a good 20 to 30 minutes to warm up after having been outside and I have shot in -25 C weather. Definitely harder on me than the camera. Just have to keep extra batteries on hand in inner pockets.

I was just going to make a similar comment. The camera certainly outlasted me in the cold.

Cannikin's question is still open I believe...

he has a point here!

What makes special K-5 around -10C degree...????
what makes it different than others in order to claim 'coldproof'?

Isn't it just the fact that it has been tested and therefore under warranty in those conditions. Most other equipment will work there as well, but the manufacturers haven't officially tested it and if your XSI stopped working in the cold, Canon could say that it was being used in conditions beyond their specifications.

-32C last night, shooting aurora with the K5 and DA16-50. At the temperatures and light conditions, I don't tempt the SDM fates and focus manually. With with wind chills of -43C (only affects rate of cooling, not temperature), I also had to quit before the equipment did. The camera body and lenses always get put in zip-locks before coming in and returned to the bag. Same with the K20D. I have never had problems.
