K-5 and SDXC

Does anybody have actual experiance with the K-5 and the use of SDXC cards?
I have the opportunity to buy a Sandisk SDXC 64GB for a good price but it does not seem to work.
Factory formatted the K-5 showed a numer of pics to be taken of almost 2000 for DNG which is correct. It could take 1 pic but after that the -5 said card error. Formatting in camera did not work. Formmatting in exFAT on a PC did not eather.

Anybody?

Thanks

Yes it is a Sandisk Ultra 64GB.

Pentax stated that the K-5 is not UHS compatible. The cards should work because I think they are backwards compatible but how fast they are in that case I don't know.
The Nikon 7000 is UHS compatible however not mutch faster with this card compared to the Extreme 30MB card.

You said you got it for a good price. Are you 100% confident it's a genuine SanDisk card? I only ask because SanDisk is one of the most pirated brands. I've seen examples on websites where pirates substitute far inferior cards, sometimes of much smaller capacity. A difference in serial number or very small change in the SD shell may be all that distinguishes it. And often they fail to function in a way similar to what you've described here.

I also would question whether it's a genuine Sandisk card.

If it is, the card may be dead. I've just gone through the warranty deal with SanDisk for a 1GB Ultra II Plus card that was dead. Exactly the same thing for me - the card wouldn't format either in the camera or the laptop. As soon as I told them this they told me the card was dead and would replace it. It was then just a matter of establishing whether the card was genuine. They asked me a few questions regarding the colour of the card, markings on the card, what sort of packaging I bought it in, etc.

If it IS a genuine card, you may be able to buy it and get it replaced by SanDisk straight away! But i don't know what the warranty says about second-owner cards though.

Hope this helps!

The card has been bought at a respectable and well nown Dutch camera shop. And I am able to format and use it on my desktop.
And therefore still the question: does anybody has experience with SDXC cards in a K-5??

Ultra Plus SDXC 128GB Compatibility with Pentax K5

SanDisk and Pentax both state these should be compatible however my experience is they are not. I spent 2 hours with the SanDisk techies this morning troubleshooting the issue. I've left the issue with SanDisk techies and they are getting back to me in a few days. I will post any new useful information when received.

SDXC and K5 compatibility

This is a firmware issue. The current firmware for the K5 is ver 1.16 although the first upgrade after ver 1.00 is supposed to fix the issue. I did an Upgrade on my K5 yesterday and "voila". No more issue.

I can confirm that both FW 1.13 and 1.16 work fine with a 32GB SDXC card. I used a 32GB card with 1.13 then upgraded to 1.16. No issues. Brand of card is Sandisk Ultra Plus.

32GB is always SDHC, there's no 32GB SDXC card. SDXC starts at >32GB, so smallest was 48GB.
