Program mode: "Auto" vs. "Normal"?

When in the "P" (program) mode, what are the differences between the "Auto" setting and the "Normal" setting? I can't seem to find the answer in the owner's manual or in Yvon's e-book for the K-5.

Normal is a "normal" program line. In "Auto" the camera tries to determine which program line to choose, based on lens used, focus distance, and perhaps other values.

Thanks - now I have a better idea of "Auto". I don't mean to be dense, but what is the definition of "Normal"?

Normal is probably general all - around shooting. The program line you set when you hand the camera to someone who doesn't know what aperture or shutter speed is. But on the MZ-7 (us name of the camera was probably different) the "auto" mode was implemented in very smart way. It actually "knew" when I wanted to shoot close-up, portrait, or landscape and set the camera accordingly. I'm not using that a lot since the arrival of TAv.
