Originally posted by Staffan Sorry but I disagree! The Sigma 18-50mm test reports are convincing, and even more the lens I bought. IQ is very good already at f/2.8 and even better in that respect than my Pentax DA* 16-50, which otherwise is superb. But as some people say, both Sigma and Tamron lenses show some obvious quality variation, so the best thing to do is to test single lenses in the shop before buying them.
....and we haven't seen some huge variations in Pentax products...from lenses to bodies?
I have three Sigma lenses, all excellent, all without problems from day one. I buy for the IQ and Tamron and Sigma have been steadily improving.....Pentax seems to have been going backward. Hopefully the Ricoh deal will correct this.
While I am here...Thanks Tamron and Sigma for giving us some affordable alternatives in K mount glass. Most of us appreciate it. Some don't, and prefer to shoot with a Pentax 50-500...they just have a hard time locating one, and if they find it , it will most likely be about $3K.
Squirrels maybe "corny"...but they love the Bigma!
