K5 vs K20d

I have a K20d and I'm thinking about upgrading to a K5. Is there much of a difference between the 2?

You mean outside of much greater ISO range, much greater DR, faster and more acurate AF-S faster and much much more accurate AF-C, the ability to shoot video, larger and faster buffer, an AF assist light, lighter and smaller, a bigger rear lcd screen, better metering with K and M lenses and more resolution? Well outside of those, and probably some I've forgotten...no there is not much difference.

This can't be a serious post.

I did exactly this, and the only thing I miss about the K20D is that the boy was a little wider and felt a wee bit more comfortable in my hand. I've got no regrets.

Apart from the well documented fault with the K-5 Front focussing in low light, my K-5 is a huge order of magnitude better than than my K20D.

Highly recommended!!

K20D on hyvä. Mutta K-5 on joka aluelta kehittyneenpi eli täysi vastine rahoille. Suositte K-5 hankintaa.

There is no contest between the two. They are two completely different cameras.

I loved my K20 but the K5 is much more sophisticated. It is packed full of useful electronics and produces very different looking images to the K20. It's actually taking a while to come to terms with it, almost like starting photography all over again! (well almost)

Well I kept my K20D when I bought the K-5 so I have a back-up. There is a helluva lot I like about the K20D and even more about the K-5 so I feel it's worth having both.

If you have the means, and are looking for more capability, then don't hesitate/procrastinate - the K-5 is a decent upgrade from the K20D. I may have been enticed myself but it's a relative want that should be balanced by available funds/value for money.

Hi all,

Well I've just parted with my trusty K20 to allow the upgrade to the K5, still have the K10 but that will go as well but am keeping my istD for sentimental reasons.

The K5 is on the way from Sydney so I hope it gets here in to setup for the Avalon Air show next weekend.

Haven't been around the forums much of late been off doing other stuff but the K5 brought me back for a lot of research before making the jump to the K5.
I hope it's as good as everyone says it is.

Nico.
