Pentax K-5 Silver Envy...

Though I am perfectly happy with my K-7 the K-5 silver is a gorgeous piece. I wonder whether it is even tougher than the K-7 (Metal Buttons?)... Hm... Can anyone convince me that I do NOT need a new K-5? It would make me feel so much better, lol.

Well if you don't shoot fast moving action or at an ISO greater than 1600 you'd probably be just as happy with the K-7. Did I help your stop your urges?

I'm sure there's a long line of people on this site that would love to convince you not to buy.

Yes and no. The Higher ISO is a neat feature, one of the reasons why I looked at the K-5...

Well I can tell you that I love my K-5, and now that I have it I rarely use my K-7. So I've sort of given you both sides. I'm not sure the K-5 silver is worth the money unless you want to spend more money to make people jealous

The K-5 Silver is just for people who don't buy a camera to take pictures, but to show off.

I'm expecting my Silver soon

Have there been any reports of sensor stains on the silver K-5? Buying a silver version may be a way to avoid the stained sensor issue.

I was thinking about the silver K-5 but the idea of paying more for lenses and body just doesn't seem worth the momentary aesthetic pleasure I'd get from it.

I'm on my 4th SLR (1st dSLR though) in 40 years; the previous 3 were all 'silver' (Praktika VI, Konica Autoreflex T, Pentax MZ50, Pentax *ist DS). I'm over the aesthetic thing (Would have loved a black body back in the Praktica & Konica days!!). When the K5 arrives in 2 or 3 months it will be basic black.
Silver won't make me take better photos, will it?

No, but it would protect you against undeads willing to attack you during your dark night / high iso shoots
