Removing acmaxx 3.0 hard lcd protector

Hi all, I have the ACMAXX fitted to my second K-5 and now find that this one also has the sensor stain problem so it's another replacement job. I'll be holding off replacement until the low light FF situation is resolved.

Has anyone removed and refitted an lcd protection screen to another camera? I don't like the idea of a hairdryer but don't see any options.

Thanks,

David

You may try to lift the edge with a flat blade sharp cutter, or just send the camera in for repair and ask to have the protector retained. Or just purchase another protector. GGS makes some very nice glass protectors which are better than ACMAXX IMHO and it can be had for less than $10. Not sure if they have one for K-5 though.

I used a hair dryer on mine when I had to send the K-5 back (low heat) and it came off nicely. Its now on my replacement camera.

Thanks Mike, that is the sort of info I was hoping to see. All I have to do now is go down the path of K-5 #3.

I just returned my first K5. I too am going to sit it out a while before trying again. If they don't fix the issues with the K5, I guess there will be a Nikon in my future. It'd be a shame though because I love my Pentax lenses.

Have faith brother and hang in there. If you went to D7000 the same focusing problems would beset you. The sensor stains are a Sony issue that Pentax has to wear.

I've not noticed any difference or reflections in bright sunlight. I use K-5 and K20D (no screen protection) and no issues between them. I'll transfer the screens (monitor and top LCD) when I get K-5 #3.
