Serial Number list

Is there a serial number database of the 'Replaced' stained cameras? That is, the one you sent in and they gave a replacement for the stain issue. If not, something like that may prove useful to a person buying a camera. If so, where is it?

You can do a lookup here if you fear your serial is a refurb: Pentax K-5 Serial Numbers - Pentax Serial Number Database - PentaxForums.com

Thanks, Adam. I'm not really worried about that. I hadn't seen the database and wondered if there was one. You can lock this thread if you wish at this point.

I wonder if the serial number is still relevant regarding stains. There have been reports of people getting a camera with an early serial but recent manufacture date (as seen in the exif).
Early cameras can have their sensor and/or logic board replaced, so they are garanteed to be stains free despite the early serial.

I think that's the general point of the database. When I originally asked the question I thought the answer would be particularly useful to someone purchasing a New camera. Is it in fact NEW.
