Wiping all AF adjustment settings to factory default has resulted in a noticeable improvement.

Edit: Reset C4 - "Reset Custom Functions".

FWIW, no difference on my K-5 whether the AF adjustment is on and set to zero or whether it's been freshly reset.

Noticeable improvement in some circumstances != FF fix. I consider the cure claim bogus. That said, it's probably wise to reset one's camera before a firmware update. It's likely firmware releases are predominantly tested in default states.

Perhaps everyone posting who has tried this could also state what firmware they have> Thought it may be relevant if they are different.

There are 3 "resets" :
- C.26 (AF micro adjustements only)
- the one after C.27 (Custom settings only)
- the one at the bottom of the "Tools" menu, tab 3. I guess it resets everything, including all of the above.

I tried all of them and have not seen any improvement.
Firmware 1.02, but I can't remember which sub-version (first 1.02 posted or "silent" one.)

Edit: just in case it matters, I didn't have any AF adjustment before the resets, as my lenses where spot on in daylight.

If sometimes my camera fails to focus in several attempts in normally lit room (artificial lighting after dark that is) and even the green lamp doesn't help - would that be a reason for concern?

It depends on how well lit "normal" is. From what I understand what appears as fairly bright indoor light to our eyes can be pretty challenging for a camera, i think the threshold at which our Pentaxs start having issues is below 4 EV? (I have no idea what that actually corresponds to in terms of a light source) But if it really was quite a bright room there could be an issue.

OK, this was not a very well lit room. Rather dim. In that case I'm less concerned.
